A nephrologist specializes in kidney-related problems. He has the competencies necessary for the treatment of pyelonephritis, urolithiasis and polycystic kidney disease, kidney failure and other pathologies. Such specialist assists with preparing the patient for a kidney transplant and observes the patient after such operation. The peculiarity of nephrology is that many diseases affecting the kidneys are related to general disorders and involve complex treatment.
