Thoracic surgery

Thoracic surgery involves the treatment of diseases of all organs in and around the chest with the exception of the heart, the great vessels and the mammary gland. Thoracic surgical procedures are used to obtain tissue samples as well as for the actual surgical treatment of the disease. Tumors represent the largest percentage of disease, followed by inflammation, functional disorders, injury, and malformations.
